CO2 – The Future

CO2 in our environment: sufficient and sustainable versus too much; we need to examine where we are, how we got here and what can be done.

Yesterday’s report by Reuters on U.S. NEWS (01.18.2023) – “Global Carbon Dioxide Removal Totals 2 Billion Tonnes Per Year – Report:” ‘The independent report, led by the University of Oxford, is the first to assess how much CO2 removal the CO2 – The Future world is already achieving – and how much more is needed.’

The European Union has set goals to capture five million tons of CO2 annually by 2030, while the U.S. Department of Energy has committed 3.7 billion in financing to CO2 removal projects.

Favorable outcomes for CO2 removal classically are primarily achieved by planting trees and managing soils. Much more is needed. Can science provide sufficient viable options?

Until we stop burning so many fossil fuels for energy and transportation it is a moot point.

If we want less CO2 we must put less into the atmosphere. Hollow government promises and commitments will not get the job done. It is up to science to do the practical heavy lifting to provide real answers.
